A “BORGO” TO BE EXPERIENCED

IDENTITY AND UNIQUENESS

Aquatio is an ‘albergo diffuso’, or dispersed hotel: accommodation spread across numerous rooms located throughout the cliff side district of Matera’s Sasso Caveoso, which dates back to the thirteenth century.

The 35 rooms were cleverly designed and furnished by the famous architect Simone Micheli, whose architecture, interior and visual design places particular attention to sustainability and the environment. Micheli instills his works with a strong sense of ‘identity and uniqueness’.
Structurally, the rooms are modelled on the ancient grottos that were carved into the tufa, and embellished with cutting-edge technology and fittings that allows our guests to experience this unique setting in contemporary luxury.

AN EXCLUSIVE LANDSCAPE TO ENJOY

A “BORGO” TO BE EXPERIENCED

The glazing, patios and terraces allow you to enjoy a sensational, unique panorama that is different from every angle. Investigating and imagining thousands of years of history, retracing the scenes from years gone by in these magical villages is a fantastic experience.
Almost all the rooms have internal corridors carved into Sasso’s walls leading to the hotel’s hub and offering direct access to the hall, the restaurant and the SPA.

Facilities and Services

The comfort and the well-being

All of the rooms are equipped with individually-controlled air conditioning and heating, flat-screen TV with pay-per-view, a safe (also suitable for laptops), a mini-bar, free Wi-Fi, a coffee machine and kettle. Each room’s comfort is ensured by a computerised monitoring system for controlling air recycling and the regulation of internal humidity levels. In this way, uncomfortable and unhealthy humidity is avoided.
